We believe that there is more to health than simply avoiding disease.
Yes, each of us can take preventive measures to help us avoid exposure to vectors of disease. AND as you’ll see in this video tutorial, what is of primary importance is the ‘host response’, the health we each maintain. Stated another way, our immune system’s ability to be strong is of greater importance in being healthy than avoiding exposure.
Here are 5 helpful actions you can take to support your wellness today:
1. Turn off your media
Yes, it may be important to know what’s going on. But being constantly bombarded with the most recent update of something scary is downright bad for our health. It was proven that people who watched the twin towers fall during 9/11 multiple times were more likely to feel overwhelmed and fearful. Chronic fear creates ill health.
Be informed but don’t allow yourself to be bombarded. If the world is going to end, trust that someone close to you will alert you.
2. Get outside and enjoy some fresh air.
While turning off your media bomb, take some time to enjoy the coming Spring. Look around you. Are the daffodils worried? Do the birds seem afraid about the virus?
3. Spend time supporting family.
Quality social time has been proven to be extremely important for our health. While you unplug from media, encourage others around you to do the same.
4. Laugh (a lot)
The science SO overwhelmingly backs up the fact that laughter supports our immunological health more than any avoidance or pill ever could. Here’s a wonderful place to start getting your laugh on! 🙂
5. Increase your vitamin C
Now that we have the bigger picture stuff in place, sure, increasing your vitamin C intake certainly helps to increase your immune response.

This video dives into two medical theories from the mid-1800s that have shaped our modern cultural mindset regarding what it takes to be healthy.
It also explains how to use these two theories together to optimally support health and wellness.
Important points:
Scientists Louis Pasteur and Antoine Béchamp were bitter rivals who had competing theories.
Pasteur’s germ theory has played an important role in our modern understanding of disease prevention (for example, it’s why we wash our hands after going to the bathroom). It focuses on preventing disease by defending the host (us) from microbes.
Béchamp came up with cellular theory (aka ‘terrain theory’). Its primary focus is to create and support the health of the host.
Pasteur’s theory became wildly popular (think of all of the anti-bacterial products on the market right now) while Béchamp’s theory fell by the wayside.
But is there a difference between avoiding disease and creating health? Is health created simply by the absence of disease, or is there more to it?

I thank you very much, Will and Susan! This is the most balanced video I have ever seen about an holistic approach to health. There are a few websites, put up even by well intended MD’s, like Mercola.com by example, yet the info there, however accurate is filled with an extremist vision of various organizations enemies of our health. Your approach is so refreshing and calm.
You must be very healthy with such an outlook on life.

Will and Susan, I think this post is a very timely — and a very sensitive reminder about what is most important in fighting disease. My understanding is that when viruses mutate, they mutate against themselves — in other words, they weaken. So healthy people who come in contact with a virus actually help the virus to die or to become less effective to make anyone else sick. I do not suggest that we become cavalier about the situation, as I think that spring break with hundreds of people on the beaches here in Florida was excessive. But cowering in a closet is equally excessive, in my opinion. I think that reaching an informed equilibrium in our approach makes the most sense. Thank you for sharing this post with all of us.

Thank you, for the wonderful expression of this video. There is such gentleness in the strength of its vitally important message. The comparison between Pasteur and Bechamp made it very clear that my path of choice has been and always will be “cellular.”
I also appreciate the comment Jonathon made about the mosquitoes …………….so true.
I raise my hands to you in thankfulness. I will hold the beauty of your expressions for a moment then wrap them in my gratitude & return them to you filled with light & love that you may keep them passing forward.

5 points are very helpful, I have overindulge on CORVID 19 updates, creating stress and anxiety. Thanks for reminding me importance of balance.

What fun watching your video. Your approach to Pasteur and Bechamp resonates with me. One of my favorite crowbars for mining truth (paticularly from scriptures) has long been the question, “How can both of these scriptures possibly be true?” I may have underutilized that question in other scientific matters. You clearly have not, and have brought the term “wholistic approach” up a notch.
Mosquotoes breed in stagnant water, not swift flowing streams. I spent several of my formative years up on a ranch in British Columbia. Across the main field was a slow-moving slough, which bred myriads of mosquitoes. A couple hundred yards away was the Kettle river, where we could swim and fish for hours with nary a mosquito to bother us. Same mosquitoes, same water. Different water conditions was the primary importance.
Will And Susan says
Jonathan,
It’s always such an honor to have such a well studied person like you comment on our articles.
We are in complete agreement here. The terrain of the host is such a powerful determinant on the outcome…
Thanks for being here with us!

I appreciate the breakdown of 2 approaches. But this ignores herd immunity. You state that someone who is healthier doesn’t need a flu vaccine. However, being healthy doesn’t equal not getting infected – only that THAT person might not get very sick. So that “healthy person” can still infect someone who will succumb to that virus and perhaps die. They are carrying and spreading because they decided they don’t need a vaccine. I don’t think this is a smart message to convey. To use your path analogy, it should be underscored that we share a path with other people as far as communicable diseases, and need to keep that in mind.
Will And Susan says
Thank you for sharing your point here Maureen.
I think your argument has merit. Truly, we are all in this together.
Terry says
Sorry Maureen,
I personally do not buy into vaccines as the answer. The recent outbreak of measles last summer at Disneyland is one of many cases in point. MOST of the measles victims HAD BEEN
vaccinated!!! Closer to home, my sister (70 yrs) did NOT get the flu shot ….her husband (71) DID get the vaccine. Guess who got the flu last week? Her husband,…….but not my sister. We’re
being sold a “bad” bill of goods on vaccines. A
host of independent studies have proven that
vaccines damage your immune system over time. They’ve proven this conclusively with
animals that are over-vaccinated!
Amanda says
Aloha Maureen,
It sounds like you’ve been watching too much “news” on your TV.
Your buying the whole vaccination game pharmaceutical companies are selling
Don’t fall for it Maureen!
Thank you Will for sharing such important non fear based information!
