Sometimes our fur babies need a little extra oral health support. We don’t want to put toxic ingredients in our mouths, and we wouldn’t want to do that for our beloved pets either. Thankfully, there are healthy and holistic oral health product solutions for humans and pets alike! Here’s an infographic that explains which OraWellness products are safe for dogs and cats:

Hi. We have 2 indoor cats that we adopted from the street. Like the other cat-owner, there is no way they will let us go near their mouth LOL But I’m going to buy some powder and give it to the vet to clean their teeth at dental cleaning. One cat already had 2 teeth extracted. The other is older and may need several 🙁
But I think their improved diet is helping a lot. At least their dental health seems like it’s stable and not getting worse.
Aloha Chris,
Thank you for your comment!
What a big heart you have to adopt 2 feline friends! We hope that improving their diet and asking the Vet to use MCHA when they clean the cats’ teeth will help!
Aloha!
Hi, can I add the MCHA powder to the cats water bowl? Will that help if the cat drinks the powder? Thank you.
Aloha Victoria,
Great question!
MCHA is safe for cats, as far as we know. While we’ve never personally added it to a cat’s water bowl, we think it would be ok to give it a try. Feel free to let us know how it goes for you, and if you see any positive improvements in your cat’s oral health!
One thing that you might already know but is worth repeating: Shine and HealThy Mouth Blend are NOT safe for cats.
I hope that helps!
Aloha!
With all due respect, if you think I’m gonna brush my cat’s teeth, you have another thing coming. No way in he** would she let me. It’s bad enough clipping her nails. Now if there were other items such as essential oils that she could lick off that might help with tartar, great. I’ve been using Dr. Becker’s stuff for that, and it’s convenient, and she likes it. I hope that ya all can come up with a better system to help our fur kids dental health. I love your stuff but unfortunately, won’t be brushing any of her teeth anytime soon. 🙁
Aloha Jan,
Thank you for your comment!
We understand that most cats will not sit still and let us brush their teeth.
While essential oils are not safe for cats, some of us have found that they do like the taste of the MCHA (NOT Shine, but our Bulk MCHA powder) mixed with a little coconut oil. If you’d like, you can feel free to try mixing up a little of that to see if your cat likes it. We think that getting the product into their mouth can still help with their oral health, even if it’s not being brushed on. But again, we understand that while something might work for one cat, it’s not guaranteed to work for another. We’re glad that you’ve found something else that works for you and your cat.
As always, holler with questions, Jan; we’re here to help! Aloha!
