Reclaiming the Patient’s Role in Dentistry
What becomes possible when dentistry is built around people, not protocols…

Why This Conversation Matters
At OraWellness, we’re drawn to conversations that move dentistry forward, not just technologically, but humanly.
Dr. Griffin Cole is one of the rare practitioners helping redefine biological dentistry into a truly human-centric model of care. His work goes beyond techniques or materials, addressing how dental practices are structured, how decisions are made, and where power ultimately resides.
What sets Dr. Cole apart is his uncommon blend of deep care for people and the courage to stand up for what he believes is right. This includes his clear, science-rooted stance that fluoride is not required for oral health, and his advocacy for biologically aligned tools—like ozone—that better serve patients.
We invited Dr. Cole to OraWellness because his philosophy mirrors our own: dentistry should serve the person in the chair first.
If You’ve Ever Felt This Way at the Dentist…
This conversation is for you if you’ve felt:
- Dissatisfied with a “run-of-the-mill” dental experience
- Confused by fluoride messaging and wanting a clear, grounded perspective
- Interested in modern, biologically aligned approaches beyond conventional care
Many people sense that something is missing in their dental care but struggle to put words to it. This interview helps bring clarity to that experience.
A Core Insight That Emerges
One of the most powerful themes in this conversation is how rare it is for patients to feel truly seen and heard in dentistry.
Dr. Cole shares how dental practices can be structured, both clinically and as businesses, to place patients in a position of real power. Not passive recipients of care, but informed participants… the MVPs of their own health journey.
When patients are respected, informed, and empowered, everything changes… from trust, to outcomes, to long-term wellbeing.
Topics Explored in This Interview
- Gum health and systemic inflammation, and the mouth–body connection
- A concise, literature rooted rebuttal to dentistry’s “F-word”
- How ozone therapy can transform nearly every aspect of dental care
Beyond the topics themselves, there’s a natural resonance in this conversation that makes complex ideas feel clear, grounded, and human.
What We Hope You Take Away
We hope you come away from this interview feeling:
- Validated in choosing a more thoughtful, biologically aligned approach to oral health
- Encouraged that meaningful alternatives truly exist
- More confident asking better questions and expecting more from your dental team
If someone in your family or community would benefit from this perspective, we encourage you to share this conversation with them.

Will, thank you very much for a great interview with Dr. Cole. Very informative. I am in Toronto, Canada and it is still very difficult to find a biological dentist, even searching on IOMAT site. I see ads for one but she says as part of her initial consult that she does a DNA test/profile. I don’t feel comfortable with this and don’t understand why this is needed. Do you have any thoughts on this?
Again, thank you for this and all that you have been doing. I am a long term follower and customer of your products.
Thanks so much for the love, Patricia!!
The DNA test profile is probably testing for dental materials reactivity perhaps? I’d just reach out and ask. Remember, you’re the BOSS of your oral health journey. You can call the shots and say what you participate in (and don’t consent to).
Holler anytime, dear! We’re here to help. 🙂
hi will –
this conversation that you had with dr. cole seems very valuable! I say “seems” bec I honestly can’t focus (and sit) for an hour to take in any podcast. would you pls consider editing your interview into small bites (as it were), maybe 10 mins each? that would be so helpful. thanks for considering my request –
Aloha Adele,
Thank you so much for your honest feedback about the length! I totally get that an hour is a lot to take in. Also, great suggestion–I’ve gone ahead and passed it along to Will and Susan.
Will shared, “I tend to listen to interviews like this while driving or doing stuff around the house rather than sit down and try to consume a long interview. I mean, it’s really a podcast given that there’s very little visual with the interview.”
In case it’s helpful, another idea that comes to mind, is to watch it in 10-20 minute chunks. Maybe try tackling it over three or six sittings? You can pause and pick it up when it works for you.
We hope that helps. 🙂
Aloha!
Another way to consume the content is to read it. I haven’t seen anywhere where you all provide a transcript. That would be helpful.
Aloha Denise.
Thank you for your suggestion to provide a transcript. I’ll pass it along to co-founders of OraWellness, Will and Susan. 🙂
Until we’re able to figure out how to post a transcript, in the meantime, please feel free to tackle it in 10-20 minute chunks at your own pace.
I hope that helps!
Aloha!
