I loved this video and the reference to the symphony in your mouth and shoe shine ideas. This is a great idea to think of a symphony as it consciously allows you to brush with a rhythm and keep mindful of your actions. I also like using my toothbrushing time to strengthen my knees. I feel so tall on tip toes brushing away. What great information you always provide to keep our oral micro biome healthy! Thank you!!!
Will And Susan says
Ah thanks Patricia!
We are so honored that you have found our work helpful to you for so many years now.
I’ll let you in on a little secret. When we were really ramping up our article writing, I ‘found my writing voice’ by writing to real people. In other words, rather than sit down at my computer and writing to whoever, I would write the article to a real person. There were three real people whose names I would put at the top of my drafts, yours was one of them. 🙂
Thanks for finding our work helpful and being so supportive through the years. It’s truly an honor to support our community along this path to a healthy mouth.
Love and Aloha!

Love your products and what you are doing! I have a hard time getting my front lower teeth clean from behind. They curve backward a bit. Your shine product does help. I still have trouble with technique and the right brush, but I’m trying! How long after red wine and how do you recommend brushing? 🙂

Thank you! This video answered a question I long had about what to do with the rest of my teeth besides just the gumline area (covered by the Bass techniqe). I LOVE your phrase “being a good conductor of the symphony of microbes in our mouths.” You’re absolutely right! It’s not about killing any one type of bacteria off 100%. It’s about balance! It’s an ecosystem just like a forest. Thanks!

Love your toothbrushes & am following your brushing recommendations. Do you recommend waiting 20-30 minutes after eating to brush your teeth? I’ve read if you eat or drink something acidic & then immediately brush your teeth, it’s not good for your enamel. For most of my life, I used to brush immediately after eating. When I heard this I started rinsing with water & then waiting about 30 minutes before brushing. I’m currently using Invisalign aligners & have to wear them 22 hours a day, so I’m back to rinsing & brushing quickly after eating.

Aloha Alida (that sounds pretty together :),
Thanks for stopping by to add your thoughts to this conversation.
Yes, we recommend waiting 20-30 minutes to brush after a meal. Swishing with room temp. water is also helpful to assist in what is called ‘oral clearance’, removing everything from the mouth after a meal and restoring a normal oral pH.
Here’s an article on this subject, ‘Can brushing after a meal damage my teeth?’
Sounds like you are heading in the right direction!

Thanks for the video. Very helpful.
Only negative … the piano music was too loud and distracting.
Will And Susan says
