… whether your toothbrush helps you or actually harms your teeth and gums?
In a word. Yes.
The type of toothbrush you use does have a major impact on your oral health.
While most toothbrushes on the market are designed to appeal to how the brush looks (Dora toothbrushes anyone?), our toothbrushes are designed based on clinical research proven to help reduce the risk of gum disease. (If you’d like to take a deeper dive, check out our two part series titled, “Which is better? Electric or manual brushes?”
Since more than 90% of us have active gum disease, having the right toothbrush that’s been clinically proven to reduce the risk of gum disease gives us a simple way to improve our oral health.
And it’s not just oral health that our not-so-fancy toothbrushes help.
More and more research points toward a direct link between oral health and whole body health. Simply by using a different toothbrush and brushing technique, we can make big strides to reduce our risk of gum disease and the major diseases associated with gum disease including heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.
Your toothbrushes are the bomb! Not only do they clean my teeth better than my electric toothbrush, but my mouth doesn’t feel like it’s been assaulted when I’m done.

The difference is in the design. Many toothbrushes have three major flaws in their design.
- They have far too many bristles to clean the gum line effectively.
- They have rough cut bristles which irritates sensitive gum tissue and can damage tooth enamel.
- They have very long handles which allows us to use a heavy hand and scrub the teeth too hard.
By contrast, our Bass toothbrushes have:
- bristle tufts more spaced out which allows them to wiggle down between teeth to clean more effectively
- rounded, polished bristle tips which means each bristle massages rather than irritates gums and etches enamel
- a shorter handle which encourages us to use fine motor skills when brushing
While bad news is never fun to hear, getting bad news from the dentist is particularly dreadful. But, imagine hearing how great your teeth and gums look from your dentist or hygienist.
I love all the products you offer…my oral health has improved dramatically! Even my hygienist has asked me what I’ve been doing cause my improvement is unheard-of she said 🙂 I would love to see your product in Whole Foods!
Thanks again for such awesome products ! I’m a customer for life!
