This device offers both a steady light mode and a pulsed “strobe” mode because different light delivery patterns may interact with tissue somewhat differently.
The steady-on mode provides continuous, uninterrupted light exposure and is the most widely studied and commonly used approach in photobiomodulation (PBM) research. Many people use steady mode for general tissue support, circulation support, and consistent daily sessions.
The pulsed (strobe) mode rapidly turns the light on and off in very fast cycles. Some emerging research suggests pulsed delivery may help reduce tissue heating, improve comfort, and potentially support different cellular signaling responses in certain applications.
Pulsed light has also generated interest in neurological and deeper tissue PBM research, although the science is still evolving and no single mode has been proven universally superior.
For most people, either setting is completely appropriate to use. We generally suggest starting with the steady mode for simplicity and consistency, then experimenting with the pulsed setting to see which feels best for your personal comfort and goals.
